What you can expect to learn:
At the end of the workshop, you should have a basic understanding of:

• the elements of a timber frame design and use of timber frame terminology;
• how to integrate the timber frame into the other design elements of the home;
• how we get your ideas on paper and create construction drawings;
• how the HVAC system is integrated into the structure;
• the special considerations for electrical wiring;
• the use of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and other enclosure systems;
• how to select a particular wood species for your frame;
• how to get started on your particular project; and,
• other aspects of the building process
  

How the workshop is presented:
We will be using numerous slides, handouts and impromptu sketching of ideas in an interactive setting where group discussion and participation is encouraged. There will be plenty of time available to discuss particular issues and questions about your own home project. We will also arrange a tour of a timber frame home and of the Red Suspenders timber frame workshops, at the end of the day, for those interested in attending.

• Morning presentation at the Fredonia Hotel conference center 9:00am - Noon
• Break for lunch, provided by Red Suspenders, Noon to 1:00pm
• Afternoon presentations and discussions 1:00pm until 4:00pm
• Optional tour of a timber frame home and guest house 4:30pm to 5:00pm
• Optional tour of Red Suspenders timber frame workshops 5:00pm to 6:00pm
