In 1999 our company was growing so fast that we needed a place to store the results of our milling operations. The Board Barn is the only steel building on the property and we apologize for that, but our crew was just too busy to build another timber frame barn. Every time we go into this barn, it reminds us why we do timber framing! If you look closely, you can see all of the different sizes of boards and timbers we produce. We sell a lot of rough boards to local furniture and cabinet builders and we supply high quality finished board stock to our timber frame clients and to specialty suppliers.
All of the lumber you see in the Board Barn has been kiln dried but not finished milled. Most of the board stock is grade "C" (meaning choice or top quality) material suitable for furniture grade applications.
You may also see some timbers stacked in the middle of the barn. We usually don't have an inventory of timbers but occasionally we reject a timber that does not meet our high quality standards for a frame application. Visit our Planer Barn to see where we perform finish milling.
